We have had a busy week in Nursery this week. We have been reading a story called farmer duck. This makes animal noises you can do as you are reading the story and the children have really enjoyed joining in with this and can say what happens next in the story.

Following on from this the children have had farmer duck or other animal writing that they can do and take home. Our story next week will be another animal related one called brown bear, brown bear.

In maths we have been noticing shapes in the environment. The children have noticed that the light switch is square and the clock is circle. They have also been looking at different items such as chocolate boxes to see what shapes they can see.

Following on from this during our welly Wednesday session the children were able to find shapes in the environment outside. They could find a circle on the post, a square and a rectangle on the gate. They have really enjoyed looking at shape in maths and can now identify 3 basic shapes square, circle and triangle.

Thank you for keep sending in your child’s wellies on a Wednesday for welly Wednesday. It’s really good as it can get very muddy over in the nature area especially with all this rain we are having!

We are getting through our sounds in phonics and are starting to blend words together like sat and sit. The children are doing really well with this now and seeing the sounds every day helps them to remember them. If you want to know more about phonics please do not hesitate to ask us at the door and we will be happy to help you.

Please keep sending your child in a coat hat and scarf as we do enjoy lots of outdoor play and they really enjoy being outside.

We have also been developing our muscles in our hands by doing lots of cutting. You may have noticed the children coming home with bits of cards they have cut up. This really helps them to develop the muscles in their hands and helps to learn them how to use the scissors properly. They also really enjoy doing the cutting and are getting so good at it now.
