Week commencing 14/1/19

This week in maths we have been doing some counting. We have been teaching the children to count slowly and touch each object in turn. They have been counting to 10 and beyond. They are doing so well with their maths now. The other group have been matching objects to the correct digit cards.

We have been enjoying lots of outdoor play this week. As the weather is getting colder please make sure your child is wrapped up properly. The children are able to go outside and stay inside as they please as the door is open. As it is cold they will only be outside for a short while.

The children are getting through their phonic sounds really well now and are starting to blend some words together now. They really enjoy going to their phonics groups and learning new sounds.

We have also had more new children start in the afternoons. They are settling in well and making new friends. We will continue to have new children start with us.

Our topic this term is transport. The children are enjoying doing lots of different activities around this. They have been cutting out transport pictures and doing some writing about our books we have been reading. We have been reading about Rusty’s train ride and ready, steady dig! The children are really enjoying these stories.

The children have had a range of different activities to do in Nursery. They have had threading, cutting, writing, small world and many more activities.

We have also been looking at someone called Gustav Holst. He wrote some music about the different planets. Some music is very angry and some is very calm. The children have enjoyed moving in different ways to the music and listening to how it goes.
