This week in Year 3 we have continued working hard. In maths we continued our focus on the place value of a number. We have looked at finding 1, 10 and 100 more and less that a number and have been using lots of practical equipment to develop and apply our understanding. We are now starting to compare amounts of objects and numbers, looking at and discussing which numbers are bigger. We are also trying to develop our reasoning skills by explaining how we know something and why a given person’s response is correct or incorrect..

In English, we went on a visit to Egypt using our Imagination Studio. It was very hot but gave us lots of wonderful ideas and talking points in preparation for our writing over the next week. We are trying to read as much as possible and are discussing what happens in the books that we read. Please remember to read for 5-10 minutes every night as this will help us to become superstar readers!
